SSC GD exam postponed, new dates not announced yet

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the Constable (GD) Recruitment Examination 2026 for the time being. This examination was scheduled to start from 23 February 2026, but now it has been postponed till further notice. The Commission has clarified that the new exam dates will be announced on the official website in due course of time.

In the notice issued on 17 February 2026, SSC informed that the computer-based examination of Constable (GD) will not be conducted now. Candidates have been advised not to pay attention to any rumor and rely only on the information released on the official website of the Commission.

For which posts the examination was to be held

Recruitment into Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) is done through SSC GD examination. This includes the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Assam Rifles. The posts of GD Constable and Rifleman (GD) are filled through this examination. Every year lakhs of candidates participate in this recruitment process.

No slot selection facility

The Commission had already made it clear that candidates will not get the facility to choose slots in this examination. That means candidates will not be able to choose the exam date or time as per their convenience. The exam city information will be made available around 8–10 days before the exam, while the admit cards will be released 2–3 days before the exam.

Possible reason for postponement of exam

Although no official reason has been given for postponing the exam, it is believed that this decision has been taken due to conflict of exam dates. According to the information, MTS exam across the country was scheduled till February 19 and after the exam was canceled at some centres, it was rescheduled to February 23. In such a situation, a decision may have been taken to postpone the SSC GD exam due to systemic reasons.
