New Delhi : Italy’s Ambassador to India Antonio Bartoli praised India’s rapid progress in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field. He said that India is in an excellent position to become a leading global power in this sector.
Speaking to ANI during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Ambassador Bartoli praised India’s technological journey and said that “the trajectory is fantastic and India can become a global power in AI.” He also described India’s large market and dynamic innovation ecosystem as indicators of strategic importance.
Regarding India’s growing identity, the Ambassador said that it provides a valuable opportunity for Italy and other European countries, through which strong bilateral relations can be established between the two countries. He said that such collaboration would be based on mutual interests and common ethical standards.
Emphasizing the growing need for joint initiatives in the digital age, Bartoli said, “It is in the interest of countries like Italy and Europe to partner with India.” He talked about keeping the focus of this partnership on ethical AI development, where both Italy and India give priority to the human aspect. “We have a common approach, a human-centric approach,” he said.
This statement reflects international recognition of India’s growing leadership in AI and the strategic importance of India-Italy cooperation towards responsible technological development.
The India AI Impact Summit was attended by government policymakers, industry AI experts, academics, technology innovators and civil society representatives from across the world. The summit is part of an ongoing international effort to foster stronger collaboration on AI governance, safety and its larger societal impact.
The event also highlighted that the summit aligns with India’s national vision of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaay” (Well-being for All, Happiness for All) and the larger global objective of AI for Humanity, exploring the transformative potential of AI.
