Municipal corporation employee arrested for taking bribe of Rs 10 thousand

Bureau Prayagraj- The vigilance team has arrested the tax collector of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation red-handed on the charge of demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for filing a report on the file of transfer of name. The action was taken by the anti-corruption trap team. Complainant Rajkumar Yadav had given a written complaint to Vigilance Establishment, Prayagraj on 17 February 2026.

His allegation was that building number 221C/7B, Giyasuddinpu, was registered in the name of his mother Phoolkali Devi.The file for transfer of Rs is pending in the Municipal Corporation. According to the allegation, the area’s Revenue Inspector Anoop was met outside the bike showroom located in Transport Nagar, where a demand of Rs 10,000 was made for filing a report on the file. Instead of giving bribe, the complainant expressed his desire to get the accused arrested.

First the vigilance team did a confidential verification of the complaint, in which the case was found to be a trap. On February 18, 2026, at around 1:45 pm, a trap action was taken in front of Ganga Bhojnalaya in Transport Nagar, Police Station Dhumanganj area. The team arrested Anup Chandra Mishra, Tax Collector, Municipal Corporation Zone-6 Khuldabad, Prayagraj red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
