‘Only India will benefit’… French President Macron’s befitting reply to the opposition on Rafale deal.
Tezzbuzz Desk – French President Emmanuel Macron has openly expressed support for the proposed deal of 114 Rafale fighter planes with India. During the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi, he said that this deal is not just a military purchase but a new chapter of India-France strategic partnership.
Macron rejected the criticism regarding the Rafale deal, saying, “It is beyond understanding why some people are criticizing it. This will strengthen India, create employment opportunities and deepen our strategic relations.”
Customer-vendor partnership moves forward
Macron made it clear that now relations between the two countries are not limited to just buying and selling. India is moving towards joint production of fighter aircraft and this is a step in line with future needs.
Referring to the security scenario of 2040 and 2050, he said that India will need more advanced fighter aircraft in view of the growing military capabilities of regional powers.
Defense proposals worth Rs 3.60 lakh crore approved
The Indian Defense Ministry has recently approved defense procurement proposals worth about Rs 3.60 lakh crore. The purchase of 114 Rafale aircraft for the Air Force was given the green signal in the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Now this proposal will go to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for final approval.
‘Make in India’ will get a boost
The most important thing about this deal is that most of the Rafale aircraft will be manufactured in India only. According to Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, this will be the first time that Rafale will be produced in any other country outside France.
It is being told that 40 to 50 percent local components will be used in the planes. This will strengthen the ‘Make in India’ campaign and will give a big boost to the Indian defense industry.
India and France already have deep defense ties. After the previous deal for 36 Rafale aircraft, this new proposal will further strengthen the long-term defense partnership between the two countries.
