The images of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ at a display in Indonesia have been shared on Instagram by Autonetmagz on their page. This particular SUV is finished in black, and with the chunky black claddings, it looks very sporty. It is most likely the final production unit and will look the same when it goes on sale.
Design details
From the images, we can note that the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be a very rugged mid-size SUV, and it will sit below the Fortuner when launched in India. In terms of dimensions, the LC FJ will measure 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height. As for the wheelbase, it will be 2,580 mm, and it will boast a ground clearance of 215 mm.
As for the base of the Land Cruiser FJ, it will utilise Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform. It is the same platform that underpins the Fortuner, Innova Crysta, and Hilux pickup. Now, coming to the design of this SUV, it will boast C-shaped LED DRLs, squared-off LED headlights, Toyota lettering on the front grille, a rugged front bumper, silver skid plates, and chunky side claddings.

As for the rear, it gets a tailgate-mounted spare wheel like most rugged off-roaders, C-shaped LED taillights, and a rugged rear bumper. Overall, the boxy silhouette of this SUV, along with heavy usage of claddings, gives it a proper off-roader stance. Once launched in India, it will take on the Mahindra Thar ROXX, which also boasts similar looks but is slightly more tamed.

On the inside, this SUV will feature a two-row, five-seater configuration, and like the outside, the interior will also boast a rugged theme. Key highlights of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will include a 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument gauge cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a sunroof, physical buttons on the centre console, and leatherette upholstery.
Powertrain options
Globally, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has been showcased with the 2.7-litre naturally aspirated (2TR-FE) engine, which makes around 163 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will also get part-time 4WD.

Apart from this engine, Toyota might also offer this SUV with the same 2.8-litre diesel engine as seen on the Toyota Fortuner. This motor will most likely be slightly detuned. Additionally, the company is also planning to introduce a strong hybrid powertrain.
As per reports, Toyota will launch the Land Cruiser FJ in India by 2028. It will be manufactured locally at Toyota’s plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. This plant has an annual capacity of 89,000 units. Toyota will most likely launch the Land Cruiser FJ in India at a price in the range of Rs 25–30 lakh to take on the Mahindra Thar ROXX.
