Mohammad Yousuf says Pakistan’s slide started after their 2021 T20 World Cup win over India

Former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf has accused the current team of disrespecting the head coach and support staff. According to him, the downfall of the Men in Green started after the team’s win over India during the 2021 T20 World Cup. Yousuf mentioned that one should remain humble, even if the results are in one’s favour.

He revealed that while players during his days always respected the seniors, the same can’t be said about the current team.

“Pakistan players after beating India in 2021 started thinking that they are the best and no one is better than them. They became disrespectful. If your head coach is talking, you are suppose to listen to him. The downfall started after that victory. You have to stay grounded. Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq were big players but they always listened to Javed Miandad,” he said on the ‘How Does It Work?’ podcast.

Yousuf has turned against the Salman Ali Agha-led team since their defeat against India. “If we want to return to our best, it is important to remove political influence and personal agendas from cricket. This is the darkest period and I am heartbroken. Incompetent individuals have no place in the team and the office,” he added.

Pakistan defeated Namibia in their last group stage match to qualify for the Super 8 stage in the T20 World Cup.
