A full meal for Rs 5! Delhi gets gift of 24 new Atal canteens, CM Rekha promises – will not let you sleep hungry in the city

New Delhi: There is good news for the poor and working class of Delhi. Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated 24 new Atal canteens in the capital. They were inaugurated digitally from Nursery Basti of Krishna Nagar. Now the total number of Atal canteens in Delhi has increased to 70. The government plans to increase their number to 100 soon.

After the inauguration ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor, CM and other guests went to the canteen and had food with the common people. The Lieutenant Governor said that this scheme is proving to be very beneficial for the needy.

CM’s promise – no one will sleep hungry

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Atal Canteen Scheme has been started with the thought that no person should remain hungry in Delhi. Referring to the problems of the workers, he said that many people work alone in the city. There is no one to cook food at home.

It used to cost Rs 100-150 to buy a thali from the market, but now you can get a hearty, tasty and nutritious meal for just Rs 5. It not only eliminates hunger but also saves the dignity of the poor. CM said, “This canteen is a reliable kitchen for every laborer, laborer and destitute person.”

Balanced food is available in the plate

Nutritious food made of pulses, rice, roti and vegetables is provided in the canteens. Food is served in steel plates. To keep the entire system transparent, digital tokens, computer billing and CCTV cameras have been installed. To increase cooperation from the society, it has been suggested to create a corpus fund, so that people can sponsor food on special occasions.

government subsidy

Lieutenant Governor Saxena said that the government is giving a subsidy of Rs 25 on every plate so that the needy can eat food with respect. There is a constant focus on food quality, cleanliness and transparency. He praised this initiative of CM Gupta and his team.

Big impact of the plan

The CM praised the officials of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), who completed the scheme in a short time. This initiative is inspired by the thoughts of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has given a budget of Rs 104.24 crore for this.

Each canteen will provide food to 1,000 people daily, which will benefit more than 1 lakh people in Delhi every day. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood and MLA Anil Goyal were also present in the program.
