Salman Khan’s grandfather Abdul Rashid Khan: DIG of British India and proud legacy of the family
New Delhi. The family background of Bollywood’s biggest star Salman Khan has always been a topic of discussion. But till now very few people knew about his father Salim Khan’s father i.e. Salman’s grandfather Abdul Rashid Khan.
Salim Khan himself has told that his father’s career and the journey of his ancestors was very special. Abdul Rashid Khan joined the Indian Imperial Police of British India and due to his excellent work and ability, he reached the rank of DIG, Indore. This post was the highest and most prestigious post for Indians in the police department at that time.
Salim Khan’s family belonged to the Yousafzai Pashtun community of Afghanistan. His ancestors came to India from Afghanistan in the 1800s and settled in Indore through government jobs. The same family culture of discipline, hard work and respect for government service was also seen in Salim Khan.
Although Salim himself was not very bright in studies, his skill in cricket and sports got him a prominent place in college. This talent and upbringing became the foundation of his Bollywood journey.
Salim Khan left Indore and came to Mumbai and entered films and gifted many hit films to Bollywood with his writing talent. Today his children Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan are big names of Bollywood, but their journey started with the discipline and hard work of Abdul Rashid Khan.
