Diego Garcia Base: Trump’s open warning to Britain! ‘This base is needed to attack Iran, it would be foolish to hand it over to Mauritius’

Washington/London. US President Donald Trump has issued a strict warning to Britain amid the balance of power in the Indian Ocean and increasing tension in the Middle East. Trump has bluntly told British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that control of the strategically important ‘Diego Garcia’ military base should not be handed over to Mauritius at any cost. Trump has expressed apprehension that considering the situation with Iran, letting go of this base would prove to be a ‘historic and great folly’. This statement of Trump has intensified the diplomatic stir from London to Washington. Diego Garcia is Brahmastra to teach a ‘lesson’ to Iran. The American President shocked the world by posting on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. He clearly wrote that if Iran does not accept the nuclear deal or the terms of peace, America may be forced to attack it. In such a critical situation, Diego Garcia Air Base in the Indian Ocean and Fairford Base in England will prove to be the biggest weapons to destroy the ‘dangerous and unstable regime’ of Iran. Trump fears that if Britain signs a 100-year lease agreement with Mauritius, then Britain and America’s control over this base may weaken in the future, which will put the security of Western countries in danger. Britain should not succumb to ‘vocalism’: Trump Trump has reacted sharply to the British government’s decision to hand over the Chagos Islands (of which Diego Garcia is a part) to Mauritius. Describing the people claiming this island as ‘fake’, he has appealed to Britain not to come under the pressure of ‘Wokeism’. Trump believes that Britain should not compromise its sovereignty. According to the agreement, Britain will return the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, but will lease them for the use of the base. Trump does not like this lease formula at all and wants Britain to retain full control over it. Trump’s U-turn: Sometimes Yes, Sometimes Nice The most interesting aspect in the whole matter is the changing stance of Donald Trump. Earlier he had termed this deal as ‘stupid’. After this, when he talked to British PM Keir Starmer, it seemed that he had accepted it. But now once again he has opened a front against it on social media. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, while clarifying the position, has said that the President’s social media posts should be considered the ‘official policy of the Trump administration’, even if the State Department’s stance is different from it. Britain’s argument – This is the only way to save the base. Britain’s Foreign Ministry has also presented its clarification on this aggressive stance of Trump. London says that, given international law and past disputes, this agreement with Mauritius is the only legal and practical way to secure the future of the Diego Garcia base. Britain argues that this deal will provide long-term security to the joint military base of the US and Britain, which is essential to deal with terrorism and global threats.
