Shillong MP Dr Ricky AJ Singko passes away, PM Modi and CM Sangma express condolences
Tezzbuzz Desk- Thursday was a very sad day for Meghalaya politics. Dr. Ricky Andrew J., MP representing Shillong Lok Sabha constituency. Singkos died of a heart attack. He was 54 years old. His sudden demise has sent a wave of mourning across the state.
According to the information, while playing futsal (indoor football) in Shillong, he suddenly suffered chest pain and fell on the field. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. Party officials confirmed his death.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on the demise of the MP. He said that Dr. Singko will be remembered for his dedicated service to the people of Meghalaya. In his condolence message, the PM expressed condolences to his family, friends and supporters and wished for peace of the departed soul.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also expressed deep grief over this untimely demise. He described Dr. Singko as a compassionate and dedicated leader towards serving the public. The CM said that the state has lost a dedicated public representative, whose absence will be felt for a long time.
Dr. Ricky AJ Singko was known for his active public relations in Shillong parliamentary constituency and strong grassroots hold in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region. He was one of the prominent leaders of the Voice of the People Party (VPP) and was among the two MPs from Meghalaya in the Lok Sabha.
His demise has created a huge void in the politics of the state. Supporters and local citizens have remembered him as a simple, accessible and people-friendly leader.
