No frills like a queen, took oath in DM Chamber. Love story of IAS couple started in training.

News India Live, Digital Desk: When two IAS officers tie the knot, images of luxurious resorts and VIP guests come to people’s minds. But IAS Abhinav and IAS Tanmay (name fictitious/referred to) have set an example by breaking these traditions. This officer couple got their marriage registered with utmost simplicity in the Chamber of District Magistrate (DM) instead of any luxury hotel. The journey started from Labasna (LBSNAA) This beautiful love story started during training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) located in Mussoorie. While studying and doing field training together, the closeness between the two grew. After the completion of their training, even when both of them got different cadres and districts, they maintained their relationship well and finally took it to the culmination of marriage. Why is this ‘DM Chamber’ marriage special? In today’s marriages, where crores of rupees are spent like water, this IAS couple completed the marriage rituals only with a court fee of Rs 500 and in the presence of some witnesses. No extravagance: There was neither a big band nor any expensive catering arrangements at the wedding. Time between duties: Both of them gave priority to their administrative responsibilities and completed the court marriage formalities during the lunch break. Message of simplicity: With this step, they gave a message to the society that the importance of marriage bonds lies in emotions, not in show. Got huge applause on social media. As soon as the pictures and information of this wedding became public, there was a flood of congratulations on social media. Gone. People are comparing the simplicity of this IAS couple with those grand weddings which are often in the news due to controversies or extravagance. Many youth have described her as their ‘role model’. Inspiration for dowry-free marriage: Taking such a step while in administrative service is a strong message against dowry system and wasteful expenditure. This couple proved that position and prestige do not mean showing off, but setting the right example for the society.
