Sushil Kumar knocked on the door of Delhi High Court in Sagar Dhankar murder case

Sushil Kumar has approached the Delhi High Court for bail in the wrestler Sagar Dhankhar murder case. A hearing regarding this matter will be held in the High Court on Friday (20 February). On February 6, Rohini Court had rejected Sushil’s bail plea. After this Sushil has decided to challenge the court’s decision.

Sushil Kumar is in jail since May 2021 in the murder case of wrestler Sagar Dhankhar. Sushil is accused of Sagar’s murder. It is noteworthy that Sagar was attacked with some heavy object, due to which he suffered serious injuries on his head. Due to this attack, Sagar died on the spot. Sagar’s two friends were also badly injured in this attack. After this Sushil was arrested as the main accused.

In October 2022, the court had framed charges against Sushil under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections of murder, criminal conspiracy, threatening and assault with a deadly weapon. The court had accepted in this case that Sagar was brought to the stadium after being kidnapped and he was attacked with many sharp weapons including a baseball. Sushil has been trying for bail for a long time, but every time his petition is being rejected. In the year 2023, Sushil was granted interim bail of one week to undergo knee surgery.

Sushil Kumar has won two medals in Olympics for India. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Sushil performed brilliantly and won the bronze medal in the 66 kg freestyle category. At the same time, Sushil was also successful in winning the silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics. Sushil was the first player from India to win two consecutive medals in the Olympics.
