Major corruption of Jal Nigam has been exposed in UP Basti. Where taps have been installed in people’s homes but not even a tank could be built for water supply, the contractors and officers wasted all the money. In Hardiya village of Sadar Block, it was claimed on paper that crores of rupees were spent on construction of a water tank, but there is no existence of the tank on the ground. There are taps and taps in this village, but water? It is just flowing in government files. In Hardiya village, there are taps installed outside many houses, but the taps are turned upside down. Villagers say that whether the tap is straight or upside down, water does not come.

In the year 2015-16, about Rs 2.25 crore was shown as expenditure under Nirmal Yojana. It was claimed that a grand water tank was built in the village. Then in the year 2019-20, construction of another tank was shown on paper by spending lakhs of rupees again in the same premises. But today the reality is that not a single tank is standing there. Villagers allege that the first tank started leaking shortly after its construction. The quality was so bad that it was dropped in the name of repair and the second tank? It was as if she had disappeared wearing Mr. India’s watch. Only one board is visible in the premises, on which the name and cost of the scheme is written. No tank, no water, just a board. The people of the village said that water does not come, one has to wait with a bucket. Officials do not listen.
A new water tank will be constructed soon as soon as funds are released from the government: Executive Engineer Yogendra Prasad.
In this matter, now Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Yogendra Prasad has come in front of the camera and has given clarification on the entire matter. The Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam said that the second board installed is for the repair of the water tank. In the year 2020, there was a malfunction in the water tank, due to which Rs 32 lakhs were spent in repairing it, but when he was asked that after all the tank was built in 10 years and then it was repaired after spending lakhs, why did the Jal Nigam officials demolish the water tank worth Rs 2.5 crores, the engineer could not answer this. However, he said that due to fake work the water tank started leaking. Therefore, keeping in mind the public interest, it has been demolished. Soon, as soon as funds are released from the government, a new water tank will be constructed.
