One year of Rekha government completed in Delhi, CM targeted Congress and AAP, said – now politics of results is being done, not posters.

New Delhi: On completion of one year of her government’s tenure, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday fiercely targeted the previous governments. Attacking Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he said that the era of ‘tweets and advertisements’ politics is over in Delhi and his government is not a government of promises but of results.

The Chief Minister clarified that whether it was the 15-year Congress government or the 11-year AAP government, during both the times the emphasis was only on publicity and poster politics. On the contrary, the present government is running the administrative system on the principle of ‘less paper, more work’, the effect of which is now visible on the ground.

Previous governments cornered on Yamuna cleanliness and waste management

On the issue of Yamuna cleaning, CM Rekha Gupta said that for decades only announcements were made, but no concrete steps were taken to clean the river. He alleged that both the Congress and AAP governments never took Yamuna rejuvenation seriously, due to which the condition of the river went from bad to worse.

He said, “As soon as we took charge, we started work on upgradation of sewage treatment plants, tapping of drains and new projects at a rapid pace, due to which concrete progress has been made in the direction of pollution control.”

The Chief Minister also raised questions on the working style of the previous governments regarding waste management. He said that due to not increasing the processing capacity in proportion to the garbage production, mountains of garbage have arisen in Delhi. Now the government has increased the biomining capacity manifold and has set a target that the waste generated daily should be processed on the same day.

Change in administrative culture and focus on education

Commenting on the administrative work culture, CM Gupta said that earlier confrontational politics was given priority, but now his government is emphasizing on dialogue and coordination. He said that even in the field of education, the previous governments did a lot of publicity but did not pay attention to structural reforms.

Referring to the Fee Regulation Act, he said, “Our government implemented the Fee Regulation Act to curb the arbitrariness of private schools, which has brought relief to lakhs of parents. This work could not be done earlier.”

“For us, power is not a medium to enjoy, but a means of service. Where previous governments looked for political gains, they would reach out with checks for help, but forgot the families of the employees who lost their lives in Covid. We have settled all those pending cases.”- Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, Delhi.

Taking a dig at former CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister said that his government provided pending assistance to the families of government employees and doctors who died during Covid, which was ignored by the previous government. He expressed confidence that the results of the change in direction that has taken place in one year will change the condition of Delhi in the coming years.
