Desk: A case of murder of three wives one after the other by a husband has come to light in Araria district of Bihar. Late on Thursday night, a husband strangled his wife Sanjari Khatoon (25) to death in ward number eight of Taran Panchayat under Jokihat police station area. The accused husband absconded after the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot on Friday, investigated the case and sent the body to Sadar Hospital Araria for post-mortem.

After the incident, the forensic team also reached the village and investigated the case and took some samples with them as evidence for research. The relatives of the deceased told that Sanjari Khatoon was married to Anwar, resident of ward number 8 of Taran Panchayat, three months ago. On receiving information about the incident, people who reached her maternal home from Uda in Mahalgaon police station area created a ruckus and demanded the arrest of the killer husband Anwar.

At the same time, former head of Taran Panchayat, Meraj Alam told that Anwar had already killed two wives. He demanded the administration to arrest the murderer and sentence him to life imprisonment. The police is also investigating old cases in this regard. Police Station Head Rajeev Kumar Jha said that the investigation of the case is going on and the accused will be arrested soon. Told that the accused had served a long jail sentence in the case of murder of his first wife and dowry harassment and had come out of jail only a few months ago. There is an atmosphere of fear and anger in the area after the incident. Local people are demanding immediate arrest of the accused and strict action. Villagers told that this was the third marriage of the accused. People said that even during the holy days of Ramzan, at least such a cruel husband would have feared Allah. Police station incharge Rajeev Kumar Jha said that the cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report. Till the time of writing the news, the process of registering FIR was going on.
