New Delhi. The Supreme Court has ordered the appointment of judicial officers to decide on claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in West Bengal. The Supreme Court has asked the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court to reserve SIR duties for former judicial officers serving as district judges. The Supreme Court says that due to extraordinary circumstances it had to pass this extraordinary order. The bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice CJI Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipin Pancholi said that there is a ‘lack of trust’ between the West Bengal government and the Election Commission of India.
