PhonePe introduced AI search feature in AI Summit 2026, now payment can be done in a jiffy through voice command!

Tezzbuzz Desk- Digital payment platform PhonePe has introduced a new AI powered natural language search feature for better experience of users. This feature allows users to complete tasks directly within the app through text or voice commands.

Amidst the rapidly growing Artificial Intelligence ecosystem in India, this step is being considered important towards making digital payments easier and smarter.

How does the new AI search feature work?

This feature reduces the need for traditional menu navigation. Users can do their work just by typing or speaking commands, such as:

“Pay Hemanth 20 rupees”
“Recharge FASTag”

As soon as such commands are processed, the respective payment interface automatically opens. This means that now users will not need to go to different tabs to find the option.

Feature created from Microsoft Foundry

This AI feature has been developed with the help of Microsoft Foundry. It works on a hybrid model of on-device and cloud-based processing. According to the company, all personal and transactional data is kept secure within PhonePe itself, which does not compromise privacy and security.

AI Impact Summit launched in 2026

This feature was launched during the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. In this event, the country’s policymakers, industry leaders and researchers discussed the future of India’s AI strategy. At the event, industry leaders like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani also announced major investments in the AI sector.

Able to understand user intent

This new feature of PhonePe not only reads the input but also has the ability to understand the intent of the user. Be it making a payment, completing a purchase, or seeking assistance from the help center—AI guides you directly to the relevant option.

PhonePe CTO Rahul Chari said that the launch is a big step towards intelligent interfaces moving beyond traditional transactional tools.

Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, said that with the help of Microsoft Foundry, it has been possible to create a secure and scalable digital payment solution.

How to use this feature?

This feature is being rolled out in a phased manner across India. Users can access it through the global search bar, help center, history tab in the PhonePe app.

This new AI-based facility is being considered an important step towards making the digital payment experience easier, faster and smarter than before.
