Sundar Pichai gave a big statement regarding AI, “We have to work together, US-India partnership is important”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Friday underlined the importance of technology partnership between India and the US and congratulated both the countries as India is now going to be a part of the US-led Pax Silica initiative. The initiative focuses on making supply chains safe and secure and fosters more business partnerships in key technologies.

At a special event organized in New Delhi, Pichai described the US-India partnership as extremely important. He said, “We are on the threshold of an era where progress and new discoveries are happening rapidly, but the best outcomes are not assured. We must work together to ensure that the benefits of AI reach everyone and everywhere.”

Pichai also said, “I am confident that India will make an unparalleled progress with AI and we are working with full commitment to support it, including product, scaling and infrastructure. We are developing AI products and solutions for Indian consumers and businesses.”

He cited examples of how Google is already rolling out AI solutions to deliver timely monsoon forecasts for Indian farmers, help health workers screen for diseases like diabetic retinopathy, and make information and services accessible in more languages.

Citing several partnerships with Google in India, Pichai said, “Google’s AI is proving to be a great help to people and businesses in India. Our scam detection features Circle to Search and Lens are used more in India than in other countries.”

Pichai also pointed out that Google last year announced a $15 billion infrastructure investment in India, including the construction of an AI hub in Visakhapatnam, which when completed will provide gigawatt-scale computing.

He said that based on these initiatives, digital trade routes will expand and will act as a bridge between the two countries.

Pichai also said, “We recently announced the India-US Connect initiative, which will connect the US and India through new subsea cable routes.” This initiative will further strengthen digital trade routes between the US and India.

Pax Silica is a major initiative of the US State Department focused on AI and supply chain security. It promotes a new economic security consensus among allies and trusted partners.
