Mumbai: Shilpa Shetty’s husband and famous businessman Raj Kundra has received an important legal relief. Mumbai’s special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court on Friday granted him bail in the alleged Rs 150 crore bitcoin fraud case. This case is related to money laundering, which is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

After appearing in the court, the bail plea of Raj Kundra was heard. His lawyer Prashant Patil argued that there was no concrete evidence in the charge sheet. Raj Kundra has fully cooperated with ED since 2018 and never hindered the investigation. The court approved the bail, but also imposed some conditions. He will have to furnish a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh and will first have to obtain permission from the court to travel abroad.

Raj Kundra spoke to the media after getting bail. He said, “I had full faith in the justice system. I know I have done no wrong. The court understood this and granted relief. Now I will follow the entire process.” He expressed his happiness by saying “Satyamev Jayate”. The case pertains to a massive Bitcoin Ponzi scheme, in which the ED claims that Raj Kundra had received 285 Bitcoins from Amit Bhardwaj, the main accused in the scam. Their current price is said to be around Rs 150 crore. These bitcoins were given to a mining farm in Ukraine.

ED had filed a supplementary charge sheet last year, on the basis of which the court took action. It is noteworthy that Raj Kundra has already been entangled in legal matters. He has also spent jail time in an old case related to pornography. But getting bail in this Bitcoin case is a positive news for them. This is also a moment of relief for Shilpa Shetty and her family. At present the investigation is going on, but after the bail, Raj Kundra will now be able to focus on his business and family life.
