Mahakumbh of sports held in Lucknow, 579 participants will show their strength
Lucknow. The State Level Sports Competition 2025-26, organized for the first time by the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Aggarwal by cutting the ribbon at KD Singh Babu Stadium on Friday. The inauguration ceremony marked the formal beginning of the competition with lighting of the lamp, flag hoisting, saluting the march past and taking oath of the participants.
On this occasion, Minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the objective of the department is to ensure all-round development of the youth by connecting them with sports along with skill training. He said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sports culture is being promoted in ITI institutes, so that students can become physically strong and mentally confident.
Motivating the participants, he said that victory and defeat are part of life, but continuous effort paves the way for success. Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom said that 579 participants (271 women and 308 men) from industrial training institutes across the state are participating in this state level competition organized for the first time.
Training Director Abhishek Singh said that in the three-day competition, participants will showcase their talent in a total of 13 sports including 100, 200 and 400 meter running, long and high jump, shot put, badminton, kabaddi, volleyball, tug of war and Kho-Kho. The competition will run till 22 February.
