Strong winds and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected in this area. Conditions along the coast are likely to be more challenging. Winds of 40 to 50 kmph have been warned in the Gulf of Mannar, Sri Lanka coast and South Andaman Sea, with gusts up to 60 kmph. Fishermen are advised to exercise caution in this area.

According to the forecast of the Met department, the maximum temperature in the northwest is expected to increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next six days. The minimum temperature is also likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Light weather movement is expected over the hilly states. Sporadic rain or snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh on February 23. Rain or snowfall is expected in Uttarakhand between February 22 and 24, which will bring chill to the higher elevations.

The IMD has advised farmers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala to take special care. Harvesting and storage are advised in rice growing areas. Maintain proper drainage in the field. Bananas, vegetables and horticultural crops should be supported in view of the possibility of strong winds. Overall, the next few days will be significant for South India with rain and strong winds, while North India is expected to experience dry and relatively hot weather with rising temperatures.
