Birk Ruud vs Mac Forehand: Who will win men’s freeski big air 2026 Winter Olympics final

The skies of Livigno Snow Park are going to witness history as the men’s freestyle skiing big air final will come to an end today, with Birk Rudd and Mac Forehand emerging as top contenders.

American skier Mac Forehand, who finished first in the qualifying round with a combined score of 183.00 (including a massive switch triple cork 1980), entered the finals as a top seed ahead of Matej Svancer (2nd) and Birk Ruud (3rd).

Highlighting the intense nature of competition, New Zealand’s Luca Harrington noted that “a lot of these guys have pulled out new, bigger tricks, just even for the quails.”

Norway’s Birk Kuud, who already won gold in slopestyle last week, heads into a stacked field of finalists. Ruud maintained a strong focus in the preliminary rounds. Revealing his approach, Kuud said that:

“I needed today’s qualifiers pressure to be able to reset. It’s always good with some contest pressure. As soon as I ski, there’s no room for thoughts. My body’s just in the skiing and I go off.”

The men’s freestyle skiing big air final is expected to feature tough competition among Forehand, Ruud, and Austria’s Matej Svancer. Despite his experience and technical precision, Ruud remained humble, saying:

“I expect it to be a tough battle. The plan is to just try to enjoy it, put down my best tricks. That’s all I can do.”
