Now advertisement boards will not be put up without permission, RC will be deducted for breaking rules

Lucknow People will no longer be able to put up hoardings arbitrarily on the roofs of their houses to earn money. Only those who have a publicity license issued by the Municipal Corporation will be able to get hoardings installed. The Municipal Corporation will also be able to remove those hoardings, which are objectionable, inflammatory or life-threatening, without any notice. Its provisions have been made in the new publicity rules Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Regulation of Sky Signs and Advertisements) Rules 2026. It has been published on February 2 and will come into effect from April. A large number of huge hoardings are installed dangerously on rooftops in the city. Most of the people who have installed it have not taken permission from the Municipal Corporation. Some have directly given contracts to companies. It is not even known how strong the buildings on which the hoardings are installed are. Even the Municipal Corporation is not able to remove them. For this, LDA and housing look for development. In the new rules, the no objection of the departments has been abolished. Now the Municipal Corporation can take action by giving notice to remove illegal hoardings.



RC will be deducted for those who do not pay advertising fees

The new rules will increase the problems of those advertising agencies, which are collecting advertising fees worth crores of rupees from the Municipal Corporation. A week ago, the Municipal Corporation had issued notices to about 150 advertising agencies who had not deposited the advertising fees. Presently the Municipal Corporation is able to remove only publicity material, but now it will be able to recover from the agencies like land revenue, i.e. it will be able to deduct RC.

The contract will be for nine years, not two.

At present the Municipal Corporation takes the contract for all types of publicity including Unipole, Kiosk, Bus Shelter for two years, but after the implementation of the new rules, it will be taken for nine years, which can also be extended for three years. In such a situation, agencies will not be able to act arbitrarily in not depositing publicity fees and putting up illegal hoardings. The Municipal Corporation will decide what the advertisement fee will be on which road and which area will fall in which category.

Will be implemented from the new financial year

Additional Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Srivastava said that new publicity rules have come. Its provisions are being studied. Under the rules, some rules and instructions are also to be decided according to the city. After that it will be implemented from the new financial year.
