Xavier Bartlett created history, became the first Australian bowler to achieve such a feat in T20I

Xavier Bartlett Creates History: Australian fast bowler Xavier Bartlett has made a big achievement in the T20 World Cup 2026. He created history by taking a wicket on the first ball against Oman. Xavier Bartlett has become the first Australian player to take a wicket on the first ball of the match twice in T20Is.

Opening the bowling for Australia in the 40th match of the T20 World Cup 2026, he took the wicket of Oman’s opener Aamir Kaleem on the very first ball. Bartlett dismissed Kaleem for a golden duck. Earlier, Bartlett had dismissed opener batsman Sahibzada Farhan in the match played against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. He has become the Australian player to take a wicket on the first ball of the match twice.

Bartlett joins Watson’s list

Former all-rounder and captain Shane Watson became the first Australian to take a wicket on the first ball of the match in the T20 World Cup. Watson met R. of Colombo on 19 September 2012. This feat was achieved against Ireland during the 2012 T20 World Cup match played at Premadasa Stadium. Bartlett is also the second Australian after Shane Watson to take a wicket on the first ball of a T20 World Cup match.

Billy Stanlake is also included in this list. Billy Stanlake achieved this feat by dismissing Cephus Zhuwao in the match against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 6, 2018. Alex Carey took the catch.

Arshdeep Singh dismissed USA opener Shayan Jahangir on the first ball of the 2024 T20 World Cup match played between India and United States of America in New York on June 12, 2024. Arshdeep was out LBW.
