The incident occurred on February 9, when Griffiths’ body was found on the ground below his balcony. Initial police investigation and CCTV footage have not found any evidence of any outsider entering the room or any conspiracy. At the time of the incident, he was alone in the room and the apartment was locked from inside. Based on the autopsy report and other evidence, the police are considering it as a case of suicide.
According to reports, Griffiths was in a legal dispute with his Thai-born ex-wife over one of their businesses. His wife had accused him of stealing more than US$673,000 from the business they ran together. Last year he was arrested and interrogated by the police after his wife alleged that he had falsified documents to sell land parcels without her knowledge.
