Good news for railway passengers, now boarding point will be changed till the preparation of second chart. Know the new plan of Railways.
News India Live, Digital Desk: Often passengers have to start their journey from another station at the last moment, but due to the complexity of the existing rules, they have to face a lot of trouble. Now Railways is going to make this process even more flexible.1. What is the new proposed rule?Currently, if you want to change your boarding station, you have to apply online or at the counter at least 24 hours before the departure of the train. But as per the new proposal: Facility till second chart: Now passengers will be able to change their boarding point till the second chart is prepared before the departure of the train. Time limit: Second chart is usually prepared 30 minutes to 2 hours before the departure of the train. This means that now you will be able to change your station some time before the start of the journey.2. What will be the benefit to the passengers? No need to cancel the ticket: Many times passengers want to catch the train from their nearest station instead of the main station. With this rule, they will not have to fear cancellation of tickets at the last moment or the seat being declared vacant by the TTE. Ease of connecting trains: If a passenger’s previous train is late, he will be able to immediately shift the boarding point of the next train to a further station. Traveling without penalty: If you board a train from another station without changing the boarding point, you may be charged a fine as per railway rules. The new rule will eliminate this problem.3. Current Rules for Change of Boarding Point (Current Status) Until the new rule is fully implemented, you should keep these things in mind: One-time change: You can change the boarding station on your ticket only once. Seat entitlement: Once you change the boarding point, you lose the right to board the train from the old station. If you are found boarding from there, you may be considered without ticket. Online Process: There is an option to change the boarding point by going to ‘Booked Ticket History’ on the IRCTC website.4. When will this facility be implemented? According to sources, the Railway Board is holding final discussions on this proposal. This may first be started as a ‘pilot project’ in some premium trains (like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat) and then it will be implemented for all express trains.
