Trump Tariffs: How much tariff will India have to pay after Donald Trump’s new decision, understand the whole matter

Trump Tariffs India Impact: Just hours after ‘defeat’ in the Supreme Court, US President Donald Trump has given a big blow to many countries of the world including India. Donald Trump has now announced to impose an additional 10 percent global tariff on all countries. This will also impact India, although the trade deal between the two countries has not been finalized yet, in which there was a proposal to reduce the 25 percent additional duty to 18 percent in the coming March. As soon as the decision of the Supreme Court is fully implemented, this deduction will also not be applicable on India.

In fact, after the decision of the Supreme Court of America, Donald Trump has signed the order to impose 10 percent global tariff on countries including India. Under this, this fee i.e. 10 percent tariff will be in addition to the existing tariff. Donald Trump, while signing this new tariff order, argued that this step has been taken to protect American industries and workers. Donald Trump has issued a new executive order under Section 122.

What did the US Supreme Court say?

On February 20, 2026, the US Supreme Court declared Donald Trump’s sweeping global tariffs unconstitutional and reprimanded the President. The court said that the President went beyond his jurisdiction and imposed tariffs. It is a different matter that Donald Trump expressed disappointment over the court’s decision on this and said that our side was not heard properly. Only after this, US President Donald Trump signed an order to impose 10 percent global tariff on all countries. India is also included in this. This fee will be in addition to the existing tariff and is effective immediately.

Did India get relief?

US President Donald Trump has also informed that despite the Supreme Court’s decision, India will continue to pay 18 percent tariff. He clearly said that there will be no change in the US-India interim trade deal. Let us tell you that recently, in the proposal of trade deal between America and India, Washington had reduced the tariff from 50 percent to 18 percent. Happiness was expressed on this from India’s side. Under this, New Delhi (India) agreed to impose zero tariff on American goods. Talking to journalists on this occasion, Donald Trump said that India will pay the tariff and America will not pay any tariff. He also praised Narendra Modi of India.
