Xavier Bartlett is an Australian international cricketer who plays ODI and T20I cricket for Australia. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and plays domestic cricket for Queensland and Brisbane Heat.
He was the leading wicket-taker in the Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat in 2023-24. He made his ODI debut against the West Indies, taking four wickets in each of his first two matches. He later received his first Cricket Australia contract.
Bartlett played for Australia at the Under-19 level and joined Queensland at age 18. His progress was delayed by back stress fractures. He was often used under the BBL’s former X-Factor substitute rule, sometimes bowling only one over in a match. Xavier Bartlett’s Personal Life
Xavier Bartlett was a champion swimmer before choosing cricket. He was a talented backstroke specialist and won several state-level swimming awards during his school years. He studied at The Southport School (TSS) on the Gold Coast and was known for his strong athletic build, developed through swimming.
Although he could have pursued swimming at a higher level, cricket became his main focus. He grew up in Adelaide before moving to the Gold Coast. At 15, he began training under former Australian fast bowler Andy Bichel, who became his long-time mentor. His father, Kym Bartlett, wanted him to learn fast bowling from Bichel.
His swimming background helped build his shoulder strength and fitness, which supports his pace bowling. Even during recovery sessions, he remains one of the strongest swimmers in the squad.
