T20 World Cup: Brook said before Super-8, took the teams lightly!

Despite a poor start, England has made it to the Super-8 round of the T20 World Cup 2026. Before the start of the second round of the tournament, captain Harry Brook has admitted that England made the mistake of taking some teams lightly, due to which they had to face difficulties.

England have to face Sri Lanka in their first match of the Super-8 round on Sunday. Speaking at the press conference on Saturday, Harry Brook said, “Obviously we have had a bit of a difficult start to the tournament.

We probably took some teams lightly and they gave us a tough fight. Look, we came here to overcome this stage and thankfully we have been successful in doing so. We have reached the Super-8 and all our focus is going to be on this now.”

The English captain said that in the match against Sri Lanka, the team will try to get Pathum Nissanka out early. He admitted that Nissanka is in excellent form and can prove to be a big threat to England. Brook said that the Sri Lankan opener had played a century against Australia and one has to be cautious about him in the Super-8 match.

Harry Brook said, “Some of the Sri Lankan batsmen are performing amazingly, so we will have to take some wickets in the powerplay.” Brook has advised the England batsmen to play with an aggressive style from the beginning and put pressure on the opposition team.

England’s batsmen have been seen struggling for runs in the group stage. Harry Brook has also not produced any big innings so far. At the same time, Jos Buttler has also been able to score only 53 runs in 4 matches.
