Youth Congress worker gets 5 days police custody from court in AI Summit uproar!

Delhi’s Patiala House Court has sent four Youth Congress workers to 5-day police custody for protesting at the ‘India AI Impact Summit’. A day after his arrest, Delhi Police produced him in the court on Saturday.

The arrested Youth Congress workers include Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar and Narasimha Yadav. On Friday, everyone was arrested while protesting at ‘Bharat Mandapam’ in Delhi.

During the hearing in Patiala House Court, Delhi Police’s lawyer said that anti-national slogans were raised during the demonstration. Slogans were raised to divide the country on the lines of Zen-ji of Nepal. He chose a place of protest where representatives of other countries were present in large numbers.
Police claimed that the protesters pushed and pushed and during this some policemen were injured. Along with this, Delhi Police sought 5 days custody of the accused.

The court asked the police the reason for the five-day remand. The police said, “We have to investigate who hatched the conspiracy and who are the people involved. Where were the T-shirts printed?”

The lawyer of the accused opposed the demand for police remand. He said that this arrest is going to lower the dignity of democracy. If arrests are made due to the protest, then the MPs protesting in the Parliament will also be arrested.

The lawyer appearing for the Youth Congress workers said, “The accused belong to a political party which is in the opposition. They demonstrated peacefully at the Bharat Mandapam. There is no evidence that they hurt anyone. Protest is a constitutional right. Hence, there is no need for police remand.”

Later, Patiala House Court accepted the demand of Delhi Police and sent all the four accused to 5-day custody on Saturday.
