To address this issue, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has implemented special measures to assist students. On February 20, 2026, the DMRC officially announced that students would receive priority at metro stations on exam days. This benefit is available to students who present a valid CBSE admit card.
What advantages will this provide to students?
As per the DMRC, this initiative will streamline the security checks for students. At metro stations, where regular passengers wait for frisking and bag inspections, students will be allowed to go ahead in line. CISF personnel will prioritize their checks upon presentation of the admit card. This will enable students to enter more quickly and save valuable time.
There will also be ease in obtaining tickets
Students will enjoy advantages when it comes to ticketing as well. At both the ticket counters (customer care) and the automatic ticket machines (TOMs) at metro stations, students will be served first. They just need to show their admit card to move to the front of the line. This will help eliminate delays in ticketing and allow students to reach the platform smoothly.
DMRC has issued special guidelines
Reports indicate that the DMRC and CISF will work together to manage the crowds at the stations. Given the surge in student arrivals during exam periods, staff have been given specific instructions. Additionally, special announcements will be made at metro stations to inform passengers that students are being prioritized and to request cooperation from everyone.
The DMRC has appealed to passengers to allow students to pass during exam days. If a student asks for help by showing their admit card, please cooperate. This will ensure no student misses their exam. The DMRC says that millions of students travel by metro every year. This year, approximately 4.3-4.6 million students are appearing for the CBSE board exams. The metro is the fastest and cheapest mode of transport in Delhi-NCR, making this facility essential for students.
