Deep Look: Nuggets Crush Trail Blazers 157-103 With Historic Road Performance
The Denver Nuggets delivered an offensive masterclass Friday night, overwhelming the Portland Trail Blazers 157-103 in a historic road performance.
The 157-point outburst marked the most points the Nuggets have ever scored away from home and stands as the highest scoring total in an NBA game this season.
Jokic Dominates Early
Nikola Jokic set the tone immediately. The reigning MVP candidate poured in 19 first-quarter points and finished with 32 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in just under 30 minutes of action.
Jokic was surgical from the field, shooting 10-of-15 overall and knocking down three of four attempts from beyond the arc. By halftime, he had already scored 24 points as Denver raced to an 82-53 advantage.
The Nuggets never looked back.
Murray Bounces Back
Jamal Murray added 25 points, rebounding from a heartbreaking loss to the Clippers the night before in which he missed a crucial free throw in the final second.
Julian Strawther and Tim Hardaway Jr. each chipped in 19 points, fueling a balanced offensive attack that saw Denver shoot 21-of-41 from three-point range.
By the second half, the Nuggets had stretched the lead to as many as 55 points, turning the contest into a runaway.
Portland Overmatched
For Portland, Jrue Holiday led the way with 19 points. Deni Avdija recorded an impressive stat line of 15 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds but struggled with ball security, committing six turnovers.
The Trail Blazers also welcomed back Matisse Thybulle and Kris Murray from injury absences. Thybulle contributed five points and three steals, while Murray added a point and a rebound. Still, Portland had no answer for Denver’s relentless pace and shooting efficiency.
A Statement Win
Denver’s 82 first-half points highlighted its offensive precision, as the Nuggets connected on 13-of-22 three-point attempts before intermission. Their spacing, ball movement and transition play overwhelmed Portland’s defense from start to finish.
The performance served as a statement victory as the Nuggets continue to assert themselves in the Western Conference playoff race.
