Rain became the villain… now one defeat and Pakistan will be out of T20 World Cup?
What was feared happened. Another T20 World Cup match in Sri Lanka has been washed out due to rain. The first Super-8 match between Pakistan and New Zealand to be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday (21 February) was canceled without any ball being bowled. The toss was done on time but the heavy rain that followed did not give the players a chance to come on the field. In the end both the teams had to be satisfied with 1-1 points.
Will Pakistan not be able to reach the semi-finals?
The path for both Pakistan and New Zealand has now become difficult as the Super-8 match in Colombo got washed away due to rain. Now both these teams can reach a maximum of 5 points, which will be enough to reach the semi-finals, but for this they will have to win both their remaining Super-8 matches.

Pakistan’s next Super-8 match is against England on 24 February. After this he will face the host Sri Lankan side. If Pakistan team wins both these matches then it will reach the semi-finals. If it loses any one of these matches, it will have to depend on the results of other teams. However, his chances of going to the next round will be very less. If the team captained by Salman Ali Aga does not win even a single match, then its bag will be tied.

New Zealand also met with the same fate
Kiwi team is also in the same situation as Pakistan. It is now a ‘do or die’ situation for him too. New Zealand has to face Sri Lanka and then England in the Super-8. To remain in the race for the semi-finals, it is necessary to win at least one of these matches. Now all the teams of this group will play one match each, only then the picture will become clear.
