Israel excited by PM Modi’s visit, Netanyahu said – India is a very powerful and popular country.

New Delhi: Buoyed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit, his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu said India is a very powerful and popular country. Israel is strengthening its alliance with its allies. “Israel takes preventive measures against evil. Therefore, it will take action from time to time, as needed, to neutralise threats in the region,” Netanyahu said at the graduation ceremony of Israel Defence Forces (IDF) cadets on Thursday.

Netanyahu said, we will also take steps to strengthen the alliance with our allies. Next week the Prime Minister of a very powerful country will visit Israel. Netanyahu said, you certainly know that a few days ago I returned from another important visit. This was my seventh visit since President Donald Trump was elected for a second term. There I met with Israel’s closest friend, US President Trump. He claimed that in the recently published US security doctrine, Israel is the only country in the world which America describes as an ideal ally. It is known that PM Modi’s visit to Israel is being discussed globally.

Strong alliance between Israel and India
Netanyahu had earlier mentioned Prime Minister Modi’s proposed visit while addressing the conference of presidents of major American-Jewish organizations on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Preparations are underway to address the Parliament. Who is coming here next week? Narendra Modi.” Netanyahu said, “For years, there has been a strong alliance between Israel and India. We are going to discuss all kinds of cooperation. You know, India is not a small country. It has a population of 1.4 billion. India is very powerful and very popular.”

Modi will address the Parliament.
Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Israel on February 25th for a two-day visit. During this visit, he is expected to address the Knesset (Parliament). PM Modi will meet Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog. This will be PM Modi’s second visit to Israel. The first visit took place in July 2017, which was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Jewish nation.
