Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s new stand: Stop cow slaughter..

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati of Uttaramnaya Badri Peeth shared candid views on the political and social conditions of India in a recent interaction with the media at Srividya Math in Kashi.

New Delhi: He is the Shankaracharya of Uttaramnaya Badri Peeth and is known for his outspoken personality. He is Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj. Apart from being a scholar of religious scriptures, he is also an expert in modern science and technology. Being maintainers of culture and traditions, they do not tolerate wrong and that is why they are always in the news. Recently, he was in the headlines due to an unpleasant incident that took place in the Magh Mela of Prayagraj.

In a special conversation with Vishwanath Gokarn for the media at Shree Vidya Math in Kashi, he spoke openly on many issues. This conversation is presented here as it was shared by him.

Difference between politics and politics

Shankaracharya clearly said, nowadays politics is not happening in India, politics is happening here. He believes that the real meaning of politics is the policy implemented by the king. When the king was no more in India, politics was also no more. Now the use of the foreign word ‘politics’ has increased in the country, whose purpose is only power and personal gain.

He said, words have glory and dignity, but now their real meaning has been lost. Whatever is happening in the country is not politics but politics. The scriptures tell us that those who are arbitrary do not get success or satisfaction, hence it is essential to control them.

resistance to autocratic leadership

Swami Avimukteshwarananda explained that when leadership becomes autocratic, it can be countered through words and ideological warning. He said, to stop injustice or atrocities, we should use our words. Autocratic people have to understand that arbitrariness does not lead to success.

Shankaracharya also expressed his opinion on the controversies taking place in Kashi. He explained that the meaning of Purana is not just description of ancient events, but renewal and preservation of memory over time. He said that the changes being made to the Kashi Vishwanath temple will be reversed with time and will be re-established through the Puranas.

He also commented on the role of saints and Peethas. He says that saints, mahatmas and Mahamandaleshwar do not take salary from the government, rather they completely rely on God and society. Swami Avimukteshwarananda also expressed concern over the insult to Pandits in films. He said, “Pandit means scholar. Just because he is a Brahmin or holds a position, he cannot be called a bribe taker. Wrong titles of films create confusion in the society.”

campaign to stop cow slaughter

Shankaracharya expressed his commitment on the issue of cow protection. He said he has given 40 days time to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to stop cow slaughter and beef trade. Their objective is to ensure protection by declaring Mother Cow as the mother of the nation. He clarified that after the expiry of the period, the next step will be decided.
