Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda’s troubles increased, FIR will be registered against sexual abuse allegations…Court gave instructions to police

Prayagraj: Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati, the current Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is engulfed in the whirlpool of a very serious and unprecedented legal crisis. ADJ Rape and POCSO Special Court has given very strict instructions to register a case against him and his disciple Mukundanand Giri on sensational allegations of sexual exploitation. This case of alleged misbehavior and obscenity with the minor children living in the ashram has created a tremendous stir in the religious and social circles of the entire country.

ADJ POCSO Act Vinod Kumar Chaurasia has given his big decision considering the sensitivity of the case and the seriousness of the allegations. The court has clearly directed the Jhunsi police station that an FIR should be registered against both the named accused without any delay and the case should be investigated impartially. After this order, the responsibility of the police administration has increased considerably because this case is related to an influential religious guru. This judicial instruction is being considered a big difficulty for Swami Avimukteshwarananda.

Ashutosh Brahmachari’s petition

The root of this entire controversy is an important petition filed by Shakumbhari Peethadhishwar Ashutosh Brahmachari. On January 28, he had approached the court under Section 173(4) that innocent minor children were being sexually exploited inside the ashram. Ashutosh Brahmachari has also submitted a suspicious CD to the court as evidence to confirm his serious claims. His direct allegation is that in Vidya Math there has been a lot of playing with the safety of children and cruelty has been taking place for years.

Videographed statements of minors

There was an important turning point in this entire matter on 13 February as part of the legal process. The statements of both the minors accusing them of sexual exploitation were recorded in the court premises with complete secrecy and videography. The court not only listened to these statements seriously but also carefully studied the preliminary report presented by the police. After a long hearing and listening to the arguments of both the sides in depth, the judge had reserved his decision, which has now come out in the form of an order.

First victory of justice for victimized children

Expressing his deep satisfaction over the court’s order, Ashutosh Brahmachari has called it the first victory of justice for the victimized children. He said that his only sacred goal was to stop the injustice being done to innocent people. Making his fight more widespread, he has announced that he will take out a huge ‘Sanatan Yatra’ on foot from Prayagraj to Vidya Math in Varanasi. Through this journey, he will present before the common devotees those facts which till now were imprisoned within the walls of the ashram.

Crisis looming on the ashram

Taking action under the POCSO Act against a person holding a prestigious religious position like Shankaracharya is a big social incident. In the coming time, the investigation team may conduct raids in Vidya Math and other related ashrams to collect evidence. After the FIR was registered, discussions about the possible arrest of Swami Avimukteshwarananda and his disciple have also intensified. The eyes of the society are now fixed on the functioning of Jhunsi Police and the future legal proceedings which will be initiated soon.
