Palamu: A case of a young man being brutally beaten by villagers on suspicion of battery theft has come to light in Padwa police station area of the district. The seriously injured youth died while being taken to the hospital.

According to the information, an attempt was being made to steal the battery from a tractor in Teliyahi village of Padwa police station area late in the night. During this time the villagers saw a young man stealing. It is alleged that the villagers caught him, tied him with a rope and beat him severely.

As soon as information about the incident was received, Padwa police station reached the spot and rescued the youth from the clutches of the villagers. In critical condition, he was sent to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Pawan Ram, son of Manoj Ram, resident of Murma village of Padwa police station area. The police have started investigating the entire matter.
Police officials said that the people involved in the incident are being identified and strict action will be taken against the culprits. In view of the tension in the area, police force has been deployed.
