PM Modi will give a big gift to Meerut: Now travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes, Namo Bharat Grand inauguration of RRTS and Meerut Metro

Meerut: 22 February 2026 i.e. today Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reaching Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, where he will take revolutionary steps in the transport and development sector. At around 12:30 pm, he will flag off Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat train at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat station. After this, PM Modi will also ride the metro till Meerut South Station, which will show the specialty of this integrated transit system.

After this, at around 1 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than Rs 12,930 crore. These include dedicating to the nation the entire 82 km long Delhi-Meerut corridor of NaMo India, the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

PM Modi will also inaugurate the remaining sections, which include a 5 km stretch from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and a 21 km section from Meerut South to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. Now the journey from Delhi to Meerut will be completed in just 55 minutes, because NaMo Bharat train will run at a speed of 180 km/hr (operational speed up to 160 km/hr).

This corridor will provide fast and easy connectivity to Delhi to major cities like Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut. Besides, Meerut Metro (from Meerut South to Modipuram) will also be started, which will be counted among the fastest metro in the country.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also address a public meeting, where he will talk about the importance of these projects and the development of Uttar Pradesh.
