Political conflict in Kamareddy, Telangana, clash between Congress and BJP workers over land dispute.
Telangana: The political atmosphere suddenly heated up in Kamareddy, Telangana on Saturday. The rhetoric that started over a land dispute soon took the form of confrontation on the streets. Congress and BJP workers came face to face, due to which tension spread in the area. The situation became so bad that the police had to intervene and many people had to be detained.
The whole matter started with allegations and counter-allegations related to land between state government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir and BJP MLA K Venkata Ramana Reddy. Shabbir alleged that the MLA had encroached on the concerned land. The MLA challenged for an open debate on this allegation. After the rhetoric, supporters of both the parties also became active and the atmosphere became tense.
Tension increased near MLA’s office
The incident happened near the camp office of the BJP MLA. Congress leader and former Sarpanch Giri Reddy Mahendra Reddy reached there with his supporters and started raising slogans against the MLA. The atmosphere further flared up with slogans of ‘Down-Down’. Within a short time, workers from both sides came face to face and a scuffle started. During the uproar, Congress leader Mahendra Reddy’s car was damaged and overturned. In the video that surfaced from the spot, policemen were seen trying to disperse the crowd and control the situation.
Political reaction and detention
BJP leader N Ramachander Rao gave a strong reaction to this incident through social media. He called it political violence unacceptable for democracy and talked about going to Kamareddy. However, he later told the news agency that even before his proposed visit, the police put him under house arrest as a precautionary measure.

Police action and current situation
Kamareddy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra informed that some people have been detained in the case and the process of further arrest is going on. Police say that at present the situation is under control, but as a precaution, additional police force has been deployed in the area.
