Amid the ongoing ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, Prime Minister Nardendra Modi held a round table conference with the founders and CEOs of 16 AI and deeptech startups.

Those in attendance included leadership from startups operating in the healthcare, agriculture, cybersecurity, space, and social empowerment sectors, including Abridge, Adalat, BrainSightAI, Credo, Eka Care, Glean, Innogle, Invideo, Miko, Origin, Prophaze, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova and Sypha.

The discussions revolved around the startups’ ability to expand their products to population-scale, with PM Modi exploring their potential to leverage AI in impact sectors like agriculture and environmental protection, including monitoring crop productivity and fertiliser usage to safeguard soil health.

The PM also underscored the need to promote Indic languages and explored the potential of harnessing AI to deliver higher education in regional tongues. He stressed the need for strong data governance, cautioned against misinformation and urged for development of solutions tailored to India’s needs.

It is pertinent to mention that the Indian government is focusing on using AI for solving the challenges faced by the country, while taking steps to prevent misinformation and other risks associated with the technology.

At the India AI Impact Summit yesterday, Modi highlighted that AI should be lawful and verifiable. He said that AI generated content should be watermarked to contain the epidemic of deepfakes and fabricated content that is “bringing friction to open societies”.

The PM outlined the MANAV vision for AI – moral and ethical system, accountable governance, national sovereignty, accessible and inclusive, valid and legitimate.

The AI Summit has seen companies committing thousands of crores of investments in India, while homegrown AI startup Sarvam, which is one of the beneficiaries of the IndiaAI Mission, unveiled two new large language models – Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B.
