He even called the director a ‘greedy sycophant’, meaning people who can go to any extent just to earn money.

Then in a funny manner he said a line which became the most viral in the video ‘Aise to log khichdi bhi nahi khilate as they are feeding beef in this film’ meaning there is a scene in the film where allegedly a girl is being force fed beef, and Anurag is saying that this scene looks so tasteless and artificial that it is worse than plain khichdi. Along with making people laugh, this comment is also raising questions on the veracity of the film.

Why is there controversy?

This sequel is scheduled to release on 27 February 2026. The director is Kamakhya Narayan Singh and the producer is Vipul Amritlal Shah, who was also the producer of the first part. The new film features actresses like Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia. The trailer shows three Hindu girls (from different states) who fall in love with Muslim boys, get converted and then get betrayed. In a particular scene, a girl is force-fed beef, which became the cause of a lot of controversy. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the trailer as ‘poison’ and said that it is a conspiracy to tarnish the secular image of Kerala. Kerala High Court has also issued notices on the certificate of the film. Many people are saying that this film has been made only to gain political mileage and earn money, especially at the time of elections. On the other hand, the makers say that they are telling the truth to the society and making it aware about the conspiracy to change the demography.

Who is Anurag Kashyap and why does his opinion matter?

Anurag Kashyap is the most bold and different thinking director of Hindi cinema. His films like “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “Black Friday”, “Dev.D” and “Kennedy” show the bitter reality of the society. He stays away from mainstream films and often speaks openly on the wrong things happening in the government, society and Bollywood. He had earlier also called “The Kerala Story” propaganda, but had opposed the ban. He believes that films should not be banned, but stories spreading lies and hatred should also not be made.
