Attempt to set fire on live-in partner, FIR registered – Obnews
A horrific case of domestic violence came to light in Gurugram, Haryana, involving a **19 year old biotechnology student** from Tripura.
The victim, who was pursuing **B.Sc** in Biotechnology at GD Goenka University (as per some reports), met the accused **Shivam** (19, from Narela, Delhi) in **September 2025** through a dating app. They started living in a live-in relationship and started living together in a paying guest (PG) in Sector 69** of **Badshahpur Police Station** area.
The relationship turned sour because of suspicion; Shivam is accused of forcibly having physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage, repeatedly beating her and brutally attacking her on **February 16, 2026**. According to the victim’s statement (recorded after medical clearance), he broke her head with a **steel bottle**, threw her on walls/furniture, hit her with an **earthen pot**, attacked her legs with a **knife**, threatened her with permanent disability/infertility, poured **sanitizer** on her private parts and tried to set them on fire (allegedly while filming this act and the nude video).
On the night of **18th February**, she alerted her mother in Bengali (which she did not understand) from her phone; His mother called the emergency helpline **112**. Police rescued her, took her to a local government hospital (initially she was not fit to give statement), then referred her to Delhi’s **Safdarjung Hospital** (some reports initially mentioned AIIMS, but Safdarjung confirmed for treatment/statement).
**FIR** lodged at Badshahpur PS on February 19, 2026** (around 8:35 pm) under **BNS sections 115, 118(1), 118(2), 127(2), 69, 351(2)** (including causing hurt, grievous hurt, assault on a woman, criminal force, sexual exploitation, criminal Intimidation is involved). Shivam has been arrested and taken on remand. The investigation is ongoing; The condition of the victim is critical but she is giving details.
