Why is Lailat al-Qadr in Ramadan special?
The holy month of Ramadan is at its last stage and with this the search for that night which is called ‘Lailat al-Qadr’ or ‘Shab-e-Qadr’ has started. It is believed that this night is the best among all the nights of the year. According to Islamic experts, the good work and worship done on this night is more valuable than the worship of a thousand months i.e. approximately 83 years and 4 months.
This is the night when Allah started the process of revealing the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad through the angel Jibril. For this reason the importance of this night increases. People of the Muslim community search for it in the last 10 nights of Ramadan on some odd nights like 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th and seek forgiveness from Allah for their sins.

night of luck and peace
It is also called the ‘night of power or fortune’. It is believed that on this night Allah hands over the responsibility of fate, livelihood and decisions of humans for the next one year to the angels. It is mentioned in Surah Al-Qadr of the Quran that on this night till Fajr i.e. morning, angels come to the earth, who bring peace and blessings all around.
special way of worship
To experience the spirituality of Shab-e-Qadr, people spend the night awake in mosques and homes. During this time special tasks are done like recitation of Quran. Since it is the night of revelation of the Quran, reading and understanding it is considered most important.

On this day, special prayers are offered and forgiveness is sought from old sins. During this time, many people stay in solitude in the mosque for the last 10 days so that they can remain completely immersed in worship. On this night we also ask for forgiveness for our mistakes.
