Assi Movie Review: Even as you are reading this review, a rape is happening in the country. There is a rape every 20 minutes and the total number of rapes in 24 hours is 80. Even if you do not like Bollywood movies, are not fond of watching movies, or dislike film stars, if you have to watch one movie in your life, then watch this movie because it is important to watch this movie. is a must. It is necessary to make such films. Because films are the mirror of the society and you should know what is happening in the society. It is possible that such films may bring some improvement in the society.

Story

The story revolves around school teacher Parima (Kani Kushruti), who lives with her husband Vinay (Zeeshan Ayyub) and son Dhruv (Advik Jaiswal). One day, while returning from a school teacher’s farewell party, some boys kidnap her. They gang-rape her and then throw her in a bad condition near the railway track. After this the fight for his justice begins. Lawyer Raavi (Taapsee Pannu) supports him in this fight. Raavi is the adopted sister of Vinay’s friend Karthik (Kumud Mishra). Karthik’s wife Kaveri (Divya Dutta) has also died in a road accident, justice for which has not been received yet. For this reason, deep hatred towards the society and the justice system has developed in Karthik’s mind. The story takes a crucial turn when someone posing as an ‘umbrella man’ murders one of Parima’s accused. Will Raavi be able to get justice for Parima? Who is the umbrella man who killed the rapists? Will Karthik also get justice? You will get answers to these questions by watching the film.

acting

Taapsee Pannu plays the role of a lawyer and she has once again proved why she is considered a strong face of woman-driven cinema. There is a special attitude in his character. She expresses her views strongly and an actress like her was needed to bring such a character to life. In one scene, when ink is thrown on her face outside the court, even then she reaches the court in the same condition and is cross-examined. That scene is remembered for a long time.

The way Kani Kushruti has expressed the pain of the rape victim, her face, her eyes and her voice make one feel that pain. Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub has played the character of a rape victim’s husband with great sensitivity. When they take their son to court and someone asks them why they brought the child to court, their answer is that where is this child now, he has grown up. At that moment you realize that he is one of the best actors of India.

You are surprised to see Kumud Mishra. You would hardly have seen him in this form before. He leaves a deep impact with his character, which stays with him for a long time. Naseeruddin Shah is impressive as always. Satyajit Sharma is incomparable in the role of the lawyer of the rape accused. Her acting takes the film to a different level and further strengthens Taapsee’s character. Advik Jaiswal has left a deep impression in the character of the son. Revathi adds dignity to the role of a judge. Manoj Pahwa is impressive. Seema Pahwa has done a wonderful job. Supriya Pathak’s work is good. Mukesh Chhabra’s casting is a big strength of this film.

questions on society

We often say that rapists should be killed. This film also talks seriously about that aspect. Not only this, the film presents every aspect in a balanced manner. It asks questions and moves at a pace that feels right to you. Often we make films for children and give them an A certificate, but here the children themselves have been put in court. Here, dialogues like ‘Taarikh par tarikh’ or ‘Dhai Kilo ka Haath’ do not come in the court scene, but the dialogues that do come, leave a much greater impact. The ending of the film leaves you uneasy and this is its biggest success.

Writing and Direction

The writing of Anubhav Sinha and Gaurav Solanki is not only powerful but also very sensitive. The message they want to convey reaches the viewer directly. The flow of the story continuously keeps you engaged. Anubhav Sinha’s direction is impressive. The way he has used raw camera angles, it increases the impact of the film manifold. He has not made any one character the hero, but has made the story the hero. Every character has been given scenes as per his need. Like a true filmmaker, he has been honest with the subject. There are many scenes which give shivers and give goosebumps. In the film, not only rape, but also issues like children, bribery, system failure etc. of today’s society have been satirized from time to time.

how is the movie

This film will shake you to your core. Your soul will tremble. It is difficult to even see what happens to a rape victim, so imagine what she must have felt. While watching a movie, you curl up at the corner of your seat. You start worrying about your family. The way the story has been presented is painful and disgusting. This film does not point fingers at anyone, but shows a face of the society which is extremely shameful.

Many dialogues of the film shock you, like –

  • ‘There is a limit to slipping, some peg should be placed.’
  • ‘The school was getting the best results, but the entire school failed.’
  • ‘It feels good for someone to die, this was not wanted.’
  • ‘Everything has changed inside and everything looks the same in the mirror.’
  • ‘Why are you men under the illusion that only you get angry? A woman gets so angry that the world turns to ashes, we just don’t burn it.

When the class nine students taunt the class teacher in the WhatsApp group after she raped them and one of them says that he too should have been called there that day, one feels ashamed while sitting in the theatre. When the school principal says that our school was getting the best results, but the entire school has failed, then you feel that failure. Raw camera angles make this entire story more impressive.

Overall, this is a very important film, which should be watched with everyone under any circumstances.
