“Global event was used for dirty politics” PM Modi’s attack on Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (February 22) launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying that it used a global platform like the India AI Impact Summit for dirty and naked politics. Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating development projects worth about Rs 12,930 crore in Meerut, the Prime Minister said the shirtless protest hurt the country’s image in front of international delegates.

The Prime Minister said, “Congress made a global event in India a platform for its dirty and naked politics. Congress leaders reached the venue naked in front of foreign guests. The country already knows that you are naked; why did you need to take off your clothes?” He alleged that Congress leaders are engaged in tarnishing the image of their own country and instead of expressing regret over the incident, they are supporting people who insulted India.

Shirtless demonstration took place at AI Summit:

In fact, during the India AI Impact Summit organized at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, some workers of the Indian Youth Congress took off their shirts and raised slogans inside Hall No. 5. According to police sources, around 10 protesters had entered the venue through QR-coded passes. They displayed slogans like “India-US trade agreement”, “PM is compromised” along with pictures of Prime Minister Modi and former US President Donald Trump on white T-shirts.

Security personnel immediately intervened and took out the protesters. However, during this time the foreign representatives present in the program became uncomfortable for some time.

Delhi Police detained four to five protesters and took them to Tilak Marg police station for questioning. The names of Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar and Narasimha Yadav have emerged among the leaders allegedly involved. According to the police, the alleged scuffle with the security personnel is also being investigated and strict legal action will be taken. The detained people are likely to be produced before the duty magistrate of Patiala House Court. After the incident, the security arrangements at the venue have been reviewed and further tightened.

Comment on opposition and allies

Prime Minister Modi said that parties like Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Bahujan Samaj Party and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference were not involved in this protest. Taking aim at the Congress leadership, he said that those who wish to sit on the Prime Minister’s chair will have to first win the trust of the public.

During the Meerut visit, the Prime Minister said that the BJP government completes the projects in a time bound manner. During this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present with him. The Prime Minister said that due to better law and order and connectivity, the investment environment in Western Uttar Pradesh has strengthened. He also mentioned that whereas earlier metro service was operating in only five cities, now metro is running in more than 25 cities of the country.

Meanwhile, political rhetoric and protests are continuing on this issue from Delhi to Chandigarh and Indore, due to which the impact of the incident during the AI Summit is also visible in national politics.
