Pakistani Jaish commander killed by security forces
On Sunday (February 22), security forces killed a senior Jaish terrorist in Chhatru, a remote forest area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the encounter started around 10:30 am in Passerkoot area when a joint search operation was launched based on intelligence inputs.
The operation was launched by joint teams of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). In the input, information was given about the presence of two Pakistani terrorists associated with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
As soon as the security forces came in contact, intense firing started in the dense forest and snow covered area. Officials have confirmed that one terrorist has been killed so far. However, the operation is still going on and a cordon has been imposed to kill the remaining terrorists and secure the entire area.
According to sources, the killed terrorist is said to be a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed. Details regarding his official identification, recovery of body and recovery of arms or ammunition will be shared after the completion of the operation.

Chhatru forest area has seen an increase in terrorist activities in recent weeks. Last month, about half a dozen encounters were reported here, and one terrorist was killed. At present the entire area has been sealed and additional forces have been deployed so that no terrorist is successful in escaping. So far, there has been no report of any casualty of any security forces personnel. The campaign continues.
