Siraj was the only option as a back-up pacer
Mohammed Siraj’s injury is a ‘double blow’ for India because he was the only specialist back-up fast bowler in the 15-member team after Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. Earlier, Harshit Rana was out of the tournament due to injury. If Siraj is not fit on time, Team India will have no additional options in the pace attack. In such a situation, the selectors may have to call another bowler from India in a hurry.
Break on Siraj’s brilliant comeback in T20 International?
Siraj, returning to the T20 team after a long time, impressed with his spell against USA. In that match he 3 wickets for 29 runs Had cracked. However, after this, due to team combination, he had to sit on the bench in matches like Pakistan and Netherlands, but there was strong speculation about making Siraj a part of the playing eleven on the bouncy pitches of South Africa.
