On Saturday, two students were swept away by the monster waves while going for a walk at the famous ‘Golden Beach’ in Chennai. In this heartbreaking incident, one student drowned and another is still missing. After conducting a search operation, the body of one student was recovered, while local police and coast guard are trying to find the other student.

According to information received, this group of students from Maharashtra had gone to Chennai for tourism. What started out as a happy picnic turned into a very sad one due to this accident on the trip. The family members of the students got a big shock after getting the information about this incident and there is a lot of grief in the area.

How did the accident happen?

According to the information received from the police, a group of 26 students from different parts of Maharashtra went on a trip to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. On Saturday the group arrived to enjoy the beach. Only three students in the group were swept away by a large tidal wave as they ventured into the sea. Mayuri Chowdhury, a resident of Bhandara district, unfortunately died in this accident.

Rescue operation started

Rescue work started immediately after the accident. One of the students, Raj Kedari, was rescued safely. But the student Jai Patil is still missing. Rescue teams are conducting a thorough search. Jai Patil’s family has reached Chennai, while Mayuri Chaudhary’s relatives have also left to reach Chennai.

Chief Minister Fadnavis appeal to Tamil Nadu administration

In this regard, the Chief Minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis, is keeping a close eye on the situation. Giving information through the social media platform ‘X’, he said that he immediately contacted the Tamil Nadu government as soon as he got the information about the incident. Chief Minister Fadnavis has appealed to the Tamil Nadu administration to provide all possible help to speed up search and rescue operations for the missing students.

According to a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) statement, Fadnavis is personally monitoring the relief efforts and the Maharashtra state administration is in constant touch with the affected families. Fadnavis expressed deep grief over the death of Mayuri Chaudhary and consoled her family. It is currently unclear which specific educational institution these students attended, but the administration is working to gather all necessary information and assist the affected families.
