Age limit controversy in JPSC 14th exam ends, relief to thousands of candidates due to CM Hemant Soren’s announcement; New notification will be issued soon

The ongoing controversy regarding the age limit in the 14th Combined Civil Services Examination of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has finally ended. Accepting the demand of the candidates, the state government has made a major change in the cut-off date of age eligibility. Earlier this date was fixed as August 1, 2026, but now it has been changed to the year 2022.

CM announced this

Chief Minister Hemant Soren made its official announcement during the assembly session. He said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the demands and problems of the youth of the state. This decision will provide great benefit to those candidates who were not able to apply till now due to age limit.


For a long time, student organizations and youth preparing for competitive examinations were demanding change in the age limit. Many candidates had also approached the Jharkhand High Court regarding this matter. While giving relief to the candidates during the hearing, the High Court had sought answers from the state government in this matter. After this, the government took this decision after serious consideration.

Notification of cut-off date will be released soon

This issue was also raised by many MLAs in Jharkhand Assembly. Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore had also said in the House that the government is considering this issue. Now after the Chief Minister’s announcement, there is an atmosphere of happiness among the youth. It is expected that JPSC will soon release official information regarding the new cut-off date. Also, the last date of application can also be extended. Earlier the last date of application was fixed till 5 pm on 20th February. With this decision of the government, thousands of youth will get the opportunity to appear in the examination.
