In the Super-8 match of T20 World Cup 2026 played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah created history and made a big record in his name. Bowling brilliantly against South Africa, Bumrah not only brought India back in the match but also became India’s most successful bowler in T20 World Cup history.
With a lethal spell of 3/15, Bumrah overtook veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s record of 32 wickets. Now 33 wickets have been registered in his name. His ability to withstand pressure in big matches and get the team out of trouble once again proved to be the biggest weapon for India.

Jasprit Bumrah put a break on South Africa’s pace by taking important wickets of Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch. With this, he made the record of taking most wickets for India in T20 World Cup history.

IND vs SA: Miller-Brevis partnership troubled India
South Africa had a very bad start and the team seemed to be limited to 20/3 in four overs. But David Miller and Dewald Brewis changed the course of the match by adding 97 runs in 51 balls for the fourth wicket. Miller played an aggressive inning of 63 runs (7 fours, 3 sixes) in 35 balls, while Brewis kept the pressure on India’s bowlers by scoring 45 runs in 29 balls. With the score at 144/4 in 15 overs, South Africa looked to be crossing 200.
Bumrah-Arshdeep turned the match in the death overs
In the last four overs, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh made a brilliant comeback and snatched the match from South Africa. Bumrah restricted the run rate with a tight line-length, while Arshdeep broke the Proteas’ momentum by taking two important wickets. South Africa could only reach 187/7 after losing three wickets in the last overs.
